Sue Rochman, MA — Managing Editor
Sue Rochman is an award-winning freelance health and medical writer. For more than two decades she has specialized in covering cancer care and treatments. She is a contributing editor for Cancer Today, the magazine published by the American Association for Cancer Research and a contributing writer for HealthNewsReview.org. Her work has also appeared in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. She received an Award for Excellence in Health Care Journalism from the Association of Health Care Journalists for her article Reality Check, which was one of the first to explore the actual benefits–and risks–of cancer screening. She writes cancer education materials for the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation and the Cancer Support Community. She has worked with BreastCancerTrials.org for more than a decade.
Elly Cohen, PhD — Program Director
Elly Cohen has been the Program Director of BreastCancerTrials.org from its beginning as a UCSF-NCI research pilot through to its current status as a highly regarded nationwide, non-profit service. Under her leadership, BCT has developed into a family of applications that include BCT Match, BCT Browse, Metastatic Trial Search, and Metastatic Trial Talk. Elly is a UCSF Assistant Professor of Surgery and BCT Program Director at Quantum Leap Healthcare Collaborative, the sponsor of BCT. She is frequently invited to talk about clinical trials to patient groups and is actively involved in the Metastatic Breast Cancer Alliance. Elly has a Ph.D. in Pathology from Cornell University and is a breast cancer survivor.
Susan Colen — Program Manager
Susan Colen has worked at BreastCancerTrials.org (BCT) since 2009. She manages the operations of BCT and its companion applications, Metastatic Trial Search and Metastatic Trial Talk. She also provides support to patients, providers, and all users of the services. Her interest in research, involvement in the breast cancer community, as well as a family history of breast cancer drives her commitment to improving awareness and access to clinical trials. She has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research and has completed the UC Berkeley Extension’s Clinical Research Conduct and Management program.
Kristen Zeitzer — Director of Marketing & Communications
Kristen Zeitzer is the Director of Marketing & Communications for Quantum Leap Healthcare Collaborative (QLHC), the sponsor of BreastCancerTrials.org, MTT, MTS, and the I-SPY Trials. She is responsible for marketing, communications, messaging, and public relations for all of the QLHC programs. Kristen’s career started in financial services in trading and specialist roles at Morgan Stanley and iShares. After helping Charles Schwab build a practice around ETF platforms, she transitioned to the healthcare vertical by joining McKesson where she held leadership roles in the Generics Pharmaceutical and Specialty Health divisions. Kristen has a BA in Mathematics with a minor in Literature from UCSD. She is a breast cancer survivor and currently sits on the board of Bay Area Young Survivors (BAYS).
Hongmei Yu — Program Coordinator
Hongmei Yu is a research scientist with more than fifteen years of preclinical research experience in breast cancer early detection and bio-marker discovery. She has published numerous high-quality research papers in top biomedical journals and presented her work on breast cancer research in many national and international meetings. She is passionate about promoting cancer community support and education. She has worked with Bay Area Cancer Connections and Patients With Power to help breast cancer patients explore their options and plan their treatment path. Hongmei has a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering.
