Palliative care is often confused with hospice care. But they are not the same.

Palliative care encompasses a broad range of supportive care that can help patients from the time of their diagnosis. It can help prevent and reduce side effects and improve the overall quality of life. Some patients receive palliative care for years. In contrast, hospice care is provided to patients only during the last months of their lives.
